Use both together for the best effect, and start the game with no first budget transfer window to keep teams as accurate as possible for the first season.
To play custom files, right click and save the files to your computer:
Place files in the following folder:
Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 12/editor data/
Make sure to have the edit files selected when loading up the game database when starting a new game.
